Floorboards! The whole restoration of the barn has stalled for quite some time because of financing the floor. I’d done some research online and only the delivery would cost a bum but now I went down the wood shop and kindly asked for an estimate and some advice on what to buy. Turns out it’s not at all as expensive as I thought, so now I got my wood! Quite a challenging task but I’m sure when it’s all done I will be a lot wiser, trying not to think to much and just do instead. I started with measuring and re-measuring. After laying out the fresh wood I realised that the old beams are actually of no use and only in the way. All of them apart from one are loose and not holding anything up so I removed them. Of course I won’t chuck them away but right now there is no room. Had to cut one in half to get it out. Amazing how fresh the core is after more than a hundred years! Carrying the huge old beams out I felt like the Mountain(Hathor Bjornsson). My willpower is definitely stronger than my muscle power. Now I will be busy for some time but as soon as the floor is done I’m in business!
